2010

A Splash of colour is finally returning to the urban jungle of Sheffield's Park Hill flats. Bright yellow, orange and red metal panels are being installed as part of work to re-clad the giant complex, which had been stripped back to its grey, concrete frame. The colours have been chosen to echo the Grade II listed building's original brickwork.

Even now, inhabitants of Sheffield are split on the matter of Park Hill; many believe it to be a part of Sheffield's heritage, while others consider it nothing more than an eyesore and blot on the landscape. Public nominations led it to the top 12 of Channel 4's Demolition programme.
